Graycliff Hotel

"Die Lage ist sehr praktisch für die Stadtbesichtigung Das Zimmer war geräumig und schön, das Bad angenehm groß Das Restaurant und der Frühstücksraum ist wunderschön gestaltet. Der Service war bemüht. Die Piano-Bar ist sehr gemütlich, mit vielen plüschigen Sofas und guten Drinks bei schöner Piano Musik und Gesang. Der große Pool mit seinen blau bemalten Kacheln, umrahmt von exotischen Pflanzen und Palmen ist ein Traum"

"Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen und (Schönheits-) Reparaturarbeiten, vor allem im Außenbereich scheinen nötig zu sein Der Empfang an der Rezeption hätte freundlicher sein können. Das ist die Visitenkarte eines Hotel, und wir hätten uns auch Informationen über das historische Hotel sowie nützliche Informationen wie: wann und wo wird das Frühstück serviert, wo geht's zum Pool, wo bekomme ich Handtücher - das übliche halt - gewünscht. Gerade bei so einem Hotel sollte das eine Selbstverständlichkeit sein. Da kam nichts. Positiv hervorzuheben ist hingegen der Bell Captain mit einem breiten, gewinnenden Lächeln im Gesicht hat er Konversation gemacht. So stellt man sich einen freundlichen Empfang vor! Beim Abreisen hat er uns dabei geholfen, ein Taxi zu einem fairen Preis zu bekommen"

"Das Graycliff ist wirklich etwas Besonderes und aus der Zeit gefallen. Das altehrwürdige Gebäude hat großzügige Zimmer, einen wunderschönen Palmengarten und ein großer alter Pool mittendrin. Abends draussen im Garten sitzen und essen ist kolonial. Das Essen ist sehr gut, oft gibt es Live-Jazz danach und eine kubanische Zigarrendreherin. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich, gut gelaunt und auch sehr fürsorglich und hilfsbereit."

"Das feuchtwarme Klima nagt auch an diesem Haus. Ich finde es besonders gemütlich, die Zimmer und Bäder sind aber schon etwas altmodisch. Der Preis für Essen und Übernachtung ist ziemlich hoch, das ist in Nassau aber „normal“."

"A fascinating living slice of colonial history. It is in a central location and exudes a slightly eccentric old world charm. It is a unique hotel with a unique charm. The staff were generally helpful and friendly."

"Some aspects of the hotel are dated, it is privately owned and the main emphasis on the hotel is its restaurant, hotel guests and facilities seem secondary. The sometimes loud piano playing every evening is not to everyone's taste. The restaurant is good but very expensive."

"Breakfast was simple but sufficient. The meals at lunch and dinner were good but a little more expensive than we expected. The wine costs were exorbitant."

"The hotel is open to guided tours which is off putting when you are a paying guest and relaxing by the pool only to have tour groups ambling around. A suggestion would be to make this for guests of the hotel only."

"Steeped in history, the hotel is an oasis of calm amongst the bustling streets of Nassau. The restaurant and lounge is sophisticated and cool particularly if the pianist is playing. The suites are spacious and comfortable and the outside area is shady by the mosaic pool. The wine choice is exceptional. They have more than 290000 bottles of wine including the oldest known drinkable bottle for sale for $200,000. The owner can tell a tale or two about some of the legends who have stayed there in the past including Paul Newman, Bill Clinton Jay Z and Beyonze, Maria Carey and so on. Legend has it that the famous cigar that Bill Clinton and Monica shared came from here."

"Graycliff is a beautiful historic building with exceptional character, a stunning pool, amazing wine cellar and wonderful helpful staff. It’s also located close to other historic buildings, the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas and the chocolate and cigar tourist attractions. Just a very special Bahamas experience to be treasured."

"Felt like we were living in our own plantation home.. lovely to sit in lounges and by the pool. The restaurant is outstanding Our room was very large and it was nice to sit out on the veranda Staff kept everywhere very clean Lovely piano playing Very helpful, pleasant staff"

"Possibly the most authentic historical feel of The Bahamas, and you get to live and relax there, not just a museum. The pool has the most opulent “private pool” feel my wife and I have ever experienced. The wine cellar has to be seen to fully understand the scale, breadth and depth of what is clearly a passion that goes beyond economics. This is one of those places that could probably never be recreated, but let’s celebrate they are here right now.
