"Mawingu Lodge was a comfortable and quiet place to stay as a base for our local dives. The communication was excellent from my first enquiry, our transport from the airport was organised and assistance was offered for booking tours locally or elsewhere on Zanzibar. The staff were lovely, helpful and attentive, and any issues we had were dealt with promptly (no hot water initially but an electrician was called as soon as we notified them). Daily breakfast was delicious (those omelettes!), and it was just so peaceful, an utter delight. Bear in mind it is budget accommodation but if you're good with that, you can't go wrong with Mawingu."
"I would like to have had local information in the room - whereabouts of local cafes, tours, etc but I guess that's what Google is for. There is a road running behind the lodge and the foot traffic into the night was sometimes noisy but it was not enough to be a real bother."

"When we arrived the team greet us nicely and we immediately felt like home. The place is full of green plantes with a natural big graden and a feeling of being in the forest. This place was very special. I'm a botanist and I was charmed. Food was great with nice breakfast and fish dish for dinner. The place also offers a massage which was the cherry on top of our staying."

"On vacation with an 11-year-old girl...exciting...even when we arrived the staff was waiting at the entrance.Welcoming and getting to know the village.The room is amazing..In the morning we got up for a yoga class..and the girl enjoyed sitting with the local friend who taught her handicrafts. I enjoyed the massage I received as a gift. And of course I did it again... the beach is very close and at night we sat watching shooting stars with Maasai stories... the meals are perfect and varied... we could order food that suits us. Thank you for everything. We will come back again next year"
