Boote in Pakistan

A wood cabin but with all facilities such as fridge, single ring cooker, air conditioning, huge varanda with room for a dining table and chairs plus recliner chairs and a washing rack. Wonderful views of the Duero river. Pick up the train (one kilometre walk away) to Pinhao - 30 minute journey along the edge of the river-for food shopping and long, lazy lunches or to Porto for a day out. Rail fares in Portugal are very cheap and half price if over 65!"

A request: a reading light in the dining room/lounge area

"Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year."

"Es war schon etwas Besonderes auf Maria's Segelboot in der Marina von Puerto Calero zu übernachten, welches schon mehrfach den Atlantik überquert hat. Meine Freundin und ich wussten dies zu schätzen, auch den sehr netten Kontakt zu Maria, wir genossen die Zeit und haben uns wohlgefühlt. Es war ein schöner Ausgangspunkt für einen fantastischen Lanzarote-Aufenthalt. Natürlich muss man ein paar Abstriche am Komfort machen, vor allem platztechnisch. Auf den 2 Toiletten + Duschkabinen ist es schon recht beengt. So, wie es eben auf einem Segelboot oder auch einem Wohnmobil ist. Aber es hat seine eigene Gemütlichkeit, und uns hat es an nichts gefehlt. Die Matratzen der Kajüten waren weich und so konnten wir uns manche Nacht leicht in den Schlaf schaukeln lassen. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, den PIN-Code des verfügbaren Marina-WIFI zu erhalten, so aber habe ich das W-LAN vom ebenfalls netten Bootsnachbarn mit nutzen können. Ich weiß nicht, vielleicht war es nur ein Verständigungsproblem und ich hätte noch einmal direkter nachfragen sollen. Das war dann eventuell meiner Sprachbarriere geschuldet. ;-)

"Man übernachtet auf einem Boot in der Marina, alle Bars und Restaurants in Laufweite, trotzdem angenehm ruhig gelegen. Die Kajüten sind nicht groß, also nix für Reisende mit viel Gepäck, dafür sehr gemütlich. Morgens gibt’s nen tollen Blick über die Marina auf The Rock. Auf dem Boot kann man verschiedene Getränke kaufen, es ist hilfreich wenn man Pfund einstecken hat. Frühstück ist im Preis inbegriffen und wird im Restaurant The Ship serviert. Für Gibraltar eine bezahlbare Variante für eine Übernachtung. Kostenpflichtige Parkhäuser sind fünf Minuten zu Fuß entfernt."

Nur zur Info für Reisende: An Bord gibt es Toiletten für das kleine Geschäft. Duschen und alles andere erledigt man in der Anlage der Marina, ca. 3 Minuten zu Fuß.

This is a new concept. A few teething issues to sort. Breakfast took a long time. They should also make you aware in advance about cruise timings as it means the boat is unaccessible. This is OK providing your planning an evening out somewhere anyway. Evening cruise from 8pm to 11pm in our case

"The Sailboat Ragamuffin is a unique experience. You are staying in a sailboat moored off of Water Island, where your hosts live after sailing the Caribbean for 30 years. They are a font of information and anecdotes about the US virgin islands and others. Jo is an accomplished chef and strives to give you the food types you desire. They pick you up by dinghy on the Crown Marina dock, and will take you by dinghy over to Water Island. In my case, I had two berths (bedrooms and bathrooms) on the boat, rocked to sleep by the rolling of the boat on the water. Don't miss going to water island, golf cart to Limestone Beach (coral reef) and Honeymoon Beach (the latter has turtles swimming around)"

The listing didn't make it quite clear what the accommodation would be - it described an apartment and a pool view. I thought it might be a houseboat on a dock. The pool view is the sea around the boat!

"Personal ist super freundlich, die Zimmer sehr sauber. Bar / Restaurant ist bis 23:00 Uhr geöffnet, Pizzen sind top. Etwas klein sind die Kajüten, ist aber auch irgendwie gemütlich. Frühstück ist guter Standard. Anbindung Linie 2 oder 17 Straßenbahn zur Innenstadt sind 400m entfernt."

Wasserkocher mit Tee/Kaffee in den Zimmern wäre gut. Getränkeauswahl Rezeption leicht erhöhen und ein paar Snacks angenehm. 😁
